SPO Compact Flange - Case Studies

Project:

A new-build mining project in New Caledonia

Background:

- construction of a network of piping carrying hazardous substances
- a leak-free connection solution needed.

Solution:

SPO compact flanges were specified providing a leak-free solution - flanges manufactured in grade 12 titanium (high level corrosion resistance)
-1,500 compact flanges ranging in sizes up to 24 inches, working at pressures up to 2,000 psi and
300°C.

Project:

Norsk Hydro Troll C

Background:

Long-life, leak-free piping joints required

Solution:

SPO compact flanges in sizes 4” – 16” were selected in preference to
welded joints
- reduced installation time achieved andhigh risk situation avoided
- significant cost savings achieveed

Project:

Statoil Heidrun Plateau

Background:

Riser flanges wanted for North Sea Platform

Solution:

NPD accepted SPO compact flanges for application on risers above sea level and before ESD valve
- weldneck flanges and taper stress flanges were installed

Project:

APL A/S Submerged turret

Background:

Riser and pipeline flanges required for STL and STP (loading and production)
- project called for high reliability coupled with small physical dimensions and low weight

Solution:

SPO compact flanges, weldneck and swivel flanges manufactured in high strength carbon steel were supplied, operating at 520 bar
