Techlok clamp connectors
are available in materials and sizes to suit every service requirement.
If your particular pipe sizes, materials or design conditions do
not appear in this Technical Overview, please contact Vector
International for special product assistance.
-
Determine the nominal pipe size and schedule (or pipe ID and
OD).
-
Determine the design conditions (eg, maximum service pressure
and temperature range).
-
Determine the hub material (the hubs will be of the same generic
material as the pipe).
-
Locate the connector size in the butt weld hub table and
note the catalogue number for the desired material to match
the hub material.
-
Locate the correct sealring in the sealring table and note
the catalogue number.
-
Locate the clamp with the desired bolting and note
the catalogue number.
-
Refer to the pressure/temperature rating charts to verify
that the Techlok connector selected meets the design pressure
and temperature requirements for the service
and the code to which it is being specified.
Note:
These charts refer to connection rating only for steady state/static
conditions.
It is the responsibility of the piping designer to select the proper
butt weld configuration.
Example:
-
Pipe size: 6 in NB, Sch. 160.
-
Design conditions: 3000 psi at 200ºF.
-
Hub material to suit carbon steel piping: A350 LF2.
-
Connector size to suit 6" NB Sch. 160 pipe is a 6" 52
from table. Catalogue number for this hub is H10604.
-
Catalogue number for size 52 sealring in AISI 4140 (PTFE coated)
to suit carbon steel hub: R12052.
-
Catalogue number for size 6in clamp-set: CS106 (4140/B7,
cadmium and passivated bolting).
-
Pressure temperature table for A350 LF2 shows a
pressure of 7004 psi, so the sizing is acceptable.
The final connector designation is therefore: 6in/52 Sch. 160.
Clamp size = 6"; Sealring size = 52; Hub size = 6"/52 Sch.
160.
