ASET are a subsidiary of Aberdeen college engaged in the training of modern apprentices and overseas students mainly from the oil industry. They provide training and assessment in a variety of disciplines and tasks, one of which is flange make up and critical bolting. They were aware of the need to expand practical activities inthis field and wished to incorporate more Techlok clamp connectors into the facility and so approached Vector International.
To provide practical training, ASET have rigs made up of pipe spools assembled with a variety of flanges and clamp couplings. Due to an increasing workload they decided to fabricate more of these training rigs and approached Vector for prices for Techlok compact clamp connectors to incorporate in the rigs. Vector International kindly offered to supply four complete Techlok connector sets free of charge.
The first of the rigs has now been completed and awaits pressure testing and painting. The overall cost to ASET including fabrication & welding has been less than one third of the original estimate thanks to Vector’s donation. The savings made allow funds to be directed into updating and improving other areas of their training facility.
