New contract awarded: Customized SPO Compact Flanges for BP
Vector International was recently awarded a contract for SPO Compact Flanges, adapted to client specification and to be used at BP Skarv. The package further includes SPO Weld Neck Flanges CL2500 ranging in size from 10” to 14”. All flanges make use of the unique HX seal-ring offering a 100% leakfree connection. Compact flanges will be cladded on the flange faces, the ring-groove and bore and finished with a Xylan coating. Delivery is expected in June/July 2009.

This new project is a typical example of Vector’s ability to work in close partnership with its customers, applying its technical and engineering expertise to develop the optimal sealing solution. For this specific project Vector worked closely with the project engineering contractor Vetco Grey Scandinavia to develop units specific to client requirements. Vetco Grey, part of the GE Oil & Gas business is a leading
supplier of field-proven products, systems and solutions for drilling and production, both for onshore and offshore.

In water depths of 350-450 metres, The Skarv and Idun development in the Norwegian Sea consists of the Skarv gas & oil field and the Idun gas field. Both fields will be developed jointly using a FPSO, subsea wells and an 80km gas export pipeline connecting to the Asgard Transport System. Oil will be exported via tanker. With a breadth of 50.6m, depth of 29m, length of 292m and hull weight of 40,600 tonnes (including living quarters for up to 100 people), the Skarv FPSO vessel is a spectacular sight. The hull is being built by Samsung Heavy Industries and due for delivery in January 2010. The FPSO itself is due for completion in Korea by November 2010 and installed on location by March 2011.
